There are dozens of churches in Fira of all shapes and sizes. I'll mention one or two of them specifically elsewhere, but for the moment I'm just going to generalise. The archetypal image of a Greek church, white with (most often) a blue dome, set against a crystal blue sky or ocean is most usually a Cycladean church, and more often than not a Santorinian church. Every calendar and guide book has one in, and usually on the cover. Here in Fira (and round at Oia) you see such churches in abundance, and if you're like me you take pictures of them every time you pass, and end up with 20 pictures of the same churches! Well, there's no denying they're photogenic!
