Abou Bakr Mosque -- also known as al-Dabbaghah Mosque -- lies in Downtown Beirut close to the shore of the Mediterranean. It was originally built in the late 13th century and destroyed by the Municipality of Beirut during the French mandate as part of a project to enlarge the roads! This project did not go through as planned, so the mosque was rebuilt in 1932 in its current form. It was again restored in 1999 following the Lebanese war.

Address: Rue Foch - Downtown Beirut
