Stony Creek (Yes, the spelling is correct) is another park in the Huron-Clinton Metroparks System. It is north of Detroit about 25 miles (40 kilometers). This is what one could label a "full service" park. It has a championship golf course. Boat, paddle boat, and bike rentals. A marina, paved hike/bike trails, off-road bike trails, and of course plenty of picnic and beach area. There is a bar at the golf course and a food concession there and at Eastwood Beach. The lake is confined to non-motorized boats, so small sailboats, rowboats and kayaks are allowed. Paddleboats are for rent at the marina.
The paved hike/bike trail is a favorite of mine, a circuit is six miles (ten kilometers) around the lake, and is rather hilly. I used to do three laps in under an hour on my hybrid bike, now with my recumbent I'm lucky if I can do two. One of the picnic areas also has a disc golf course. This serene park is great to get away and relax with the family. You can join the crowds at the main, Eastwood Beach, or find one of the more secluded beach areas in the park.
One can do virtually any outdoor sport or activity here except use a powered water craft.
