"Manhattan on a Budget" Herald Square Tip by Starla2005

Herald Square, New York City: 1,596 reviews and 10 photos

The Herald Square is in the original Life Magazine building, very charming and cute with the Life cherubs smiling at you from every angle. A cozy place for less than $100 a night, Herald Square is a great deal for midtown Manhattan. At 19 W 31st Street between 5th and 7th Avenues, it's a short walk to Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Macy's and much more. The room wasn't large, but certainly not small, and had all the amenities a person would need. A double bed, free HBO, and a large private bath. Friendly Service, easy check-in/check-out, elevators, it was all a breeze. The only negative was the room smelled of smoke, so being a non-smoker, I had to get use to the scent, but all in all I had a wonderful stay. And according to the website, now it's completely non-smoking. The hotel was under renovations during my stay, the work is probably done by now, it just keeps getting better! I highly recommend Herald Square, and I know others do too, so be sure to make your reservations well in advance!!
