Udaipur Things to Do: 293 reviews and 802 photos

Shambhu Niwas was built in the mid 19th century by Maharana Shanbhu Singh (1862-1874). It is now the residence and office of Maharana Arvind Singh and his family and is closed to the public. Arvind succeeded as the head of the Mewar Dynasty when his father, Bhagwant Singh, died in 1984. The Palace lies behind a high iron fence with double gates. A fountain sits centrally in the sweeping driveway that encircles it. Inside the palace the rooms have high ceilings with wooden beams. On one side there is an extensive terrace which overlooks Lake Pichola.
