"On an atoll you don't travel..." Maldives Restaurant Tip by jguffey

On an atoll you don't travel far for meals. Breakfast was served in an open air (but roofed) restaurant. Lunch was sometimes on the beach. Dinner was in both places. Best part was even the covered area had a sand floor so you never wore shoes although there were linen napkins and crystal wine glasses on the tables.
The sand on the floor made it a hi with everyone. People 'dressed' in casual/elegant resort clothes for dinner but were barefoot. Some did not dress casual/elegant but wore shorts and shirts. They were welcome as well. One great thing: even though each table was occupied, it was quiet and you could hear the lovely background music played softly. It was very much a couples place and couples kept to themselves for meals.

Favorite Dish: Breakfast buffet included for me (daily): fresh mango juice, smoked salmon, croissants, and French press coffee.

One night for dinner the chef served kangaroo filet - very rare. It was good. Tasted much like ostrich which I have eaten in South Africa.

Directions: On the Vabbinfaru Atoll in the Maldives at the Banyan Tree Resort and Spa.
