Rivaled by few other game parks in Africa, Moremi is a spectacular and beautiful game park .
Situated in a corner of the Okavango Delta of Botswana, Moremi Wildlife Reserve covers more than 1,000 square kilometers of grassy floodplains, winding waterways, palm-fringed islands, forest and lush, lily-covered lagoons. With its mix of wetlands and woodlands, Moremi is a park of exceptional beauty - and it is here that most of the game viewing in the famed Okavango delta
Although much of the game in this preserve is migratory, the choice grazing ensures game viewing all year round. However, in the dry season large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra swarm back into the park from the Kalahari in search of food and water, and by the time the floods reach Moremi in July, the reserve is bursting with game again!
The rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope live in the papyrus banks of the waterways. Lion, cheetah and leopard hunt in the open veld, and the area is particularly good for wild dogs -- which are almost never sighted in African safaris.
Moremi is an ultimate adventure into the heart of Africa!
Directions: Moremi is accessed by 4 x 4 vehicle or air charter directly to the camps and lodges from Maun, the unofficial "capital" of the great Okavango and Kalahari region. Maun is reached by air from Johannesburg, Vic Falls and Windhoek.
