"Modern art stuff, again" Top 5 Page for this destination Brindleyplace Tip by sourbugger

Brindleyplace, Birmingham: 6 reviews and 6 photos

Whenever a city wants to 'redevelop' in the UK, it seems that the planners believe a vital ingredient is to build a modern-art exhibition space.

Birmingham's attempt is called the 'IKON' gallery, and has been created from the shell of a disused church on Brindley place.

A couple of exhibition spaces, a cafe and a shop - yours for the FREE viewing pleasure of.

Sourbugger's view of modern art need's no repeating here. Suffice is to say that the words "Monumental" "Waste" and "crap" might well appear in any sentence about it.

I did however enjoy the glass lift on the side of the building. It plays an gradually ascending (or descending) choral work as you travel up or down. By far the best feature of the building.

Directions: Brindley square - just off Broad street
