The Saint John of Nepomuk Relief, Charles Bridge
by easyoar

On the base of the Saint John of Nepomuk statue (on Charles Bridge) is a relief showing him being thrown off the bridge. Apparently it is considered good luck to touch this little image of the Saint. As my picture shows this Saint is now brightly polished from all the rubbing it receives.

A lot of people seem to get rather carried away and rub a lot more than just the tiny figure of the saint as he his thrown off the top of the bridge. You can see this too in my picture. The Saint?s body is at the top of the shiny gold part, the rest is just over enthusiasm or people not knowing what they are supposed to touch! There is also a relief of a dog, that gets the same treatment!
