"Vrmac" Kotor Things to Do Tip by Rusket

Vrmac is the peninsula between the bays of Kotor and Tivat. It is rather steep, especially on the Kotor side. You can get up there by walking / driving / taking the bus to Trojica. NB! Not the tunnel! Right before the road splits into the serpentine road to Cetinje and the main road down to the coast, there is a gravel road turning right. If you are by car, leave your car at the intersection, or keep on driving to the Austro-Hungarian fort. Good advice: Stop to fill your waterbottle at Trojica. In the ditch across the main road from the intersection there is a hose coming out of the ground, with clean water from the mountains!
At Vrmac there are heaps of things to do: Walk the beautiful path / road built by the Austro-Hungarian army, admire the magnificent view of bays and mountains, breathe the fresh air, enjoy your lunch in the shade of the pine woods, play on the grass, sunbathe, visit the old farm, watch planes coming and going at Tivat Airport ...
The highest peaks on Vrmac are Sveta Ilija 766 m, Veli vrh 712 and Popova Glava 584.
I have written a separate tip under "off the beaten path" and a TL about the Austro-Hungarian fort, a General Tip about the visit at the farm and a TL about the flora. We found wild aspargus there, which we brought home for lunch :-)
A pity that not many people use this recreational area. My friend Gaga walks there every day, and she meets the same, few people. Among the regulars are an elderly couple walking up all the way from Tivat!
