"Split Apple Rock" Abel Tasman National Park Tip by mad4travel

Split Apple Rock is located at the start of Abel Tasman National Park between Marahau and Kaiteriteri.

I had seen it in the New Zealand Tourist board press ads with a guy stradlling the two halves of the rock. I thought he had been craftily "photoshopped" in, but as you can see from the photo it is easily reachable by a quick swim and it is surprisingly big. I've no idea how it came to be like that.

There is a small beach from where it can be reached but its not signposted and I'm not going to tell you how to get there. Its a lovely place to go and be by yourself.
