"Favourite park at the south bank" Luxembourg Gardens - Jardin du Luxembourg Tip by sachara

The public park around the Palais du Luxembourg is a favourite place to visit. Many students and young people, but also families and elderly people are frequenting this park.
In front of the palais is an octangular Grand Bassin, where kids and adults are playing with small sailing boats. At the terraces round the water people are sunbathing, relaxing or reading a paper. Families with playing kids are all around. A streetartist is showing his act to the kids. In summer 2005 when I visited the park, I saw an exhibition of the world press photo along the fences.
In summer the park is very colourful by the many flowers. There are several statues along the perpendicular lanes, there are playgrounds for the kids and tenniscourts. At very warm summerdays it´s a nice place to walk or sit in the shade of the many trees as well.
