We then left Sanibel for what was going to become my favorite part of the trip : Key West. Reaching Hemingway?s paradise implied driving 160 km through some of the Florida Keys, and on the famous bridges over the Gulf of Florida... which was quite impressive ! About 100 bridges and roads on piles link Key West to the mainland ! At the south of the Foridian peninsula, thousands of little islands and coral reef make up a curved archipelago streching over 320 km to the south-west...
The Florida Keys form a natural barrier that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Gulf of Mexico.
