Apparently this Post Box is one of the oldest in London. Indeed it is Victorian, which as the Post Office was set up during Queen Victoria's reign makes this appear likely - although she did reign for over 60 years!

This is definitely the most ornate Post Box I have seen in London however. It's actually quite easy to miss, even with it sitting out in the middle of the Pavement in High Street Kensington (it's very close to the corner with Melbury Road). Although it is much more ornate, it is also much more fragile looking, although judging by its age (well over 100 years old), and the fact of where it is, this much be an illusion as it is in pretty good nick.
