"House of Blackheads" House of Blackheads Tip by Art68
House of Blackheads, Riga: 43 reviews and 100 photos
Part of the Old Town Walk recommended in many guides. Very beautiful Gothic building overlooking a square, it was owned by the Merchant Guild in medieval times. Destroyed in 1941 but restored in 2001.
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon when we were there and a limo from a wedding turned up and parked in front. Various family members turned up, waiting for bride and groom to come out of the limo. A group of elderly Spanish tourists, looking quite merry from a few lunchtime drinks, decided to strike various poses in front of the limo for photos, before the bride or groom's mother marched over and let them know very clearly what she thought! Seeing them slink away embarrassed, I don't think I've ever seen older people looking so much like young kids who have just been told off!
Directions: In the old town, towards Akmens Bridge on River Daugava.
