"Exploring the jungle" State of Sabah Things to Do Tip by hennanights

Kota Kinabalu National park has several walking trails throughout the park. We found them to all be roughly about the same as far as fitness level goes. Most of the paths are clay which can be very slippery when wet - which is all the time. The trails go up and down the hills surrounding the lodges. Some say they are lookouts but since the jungle is so thick there is no view. The all vary in length. I think one we did was about 3 km. The walks, although hard for me because I'm not the fittest, were well worth doing. Just walking around the paved roads in the park you will not get the same memorable experience as slogging through a wet, muddy jungle so dense you can only see a few metres into it. Take some time to sit and enjoy it. If you are climbing the mountain do a few trails first as you wont want to after. Think of it as a warm up!

Address: Kota Kinabalu National Park
Directions: The park is about ninety kilometers from Kota Kinabalu. The journey takes about two hours.
