Didn't manage to see much of the Fort as it was getting dark when we reached there. It was a pretty good climb up to the Fort. We were not alone as there were many locals doing their evening walks and exercises around the Fort. Managed to see some canons placed at the "watch area" and enjoyed the view of St. Paul's ruins from here.

Here are some write-ups on Monte Fort.
The Fort which was built by the Jesuit from 1617 to 1626 was the city's principal military defence structure. The Fort overlooks the St. Paul's ruins and at a high level of Macau. The Fortress was equipped with cannons, military barracks, wells and an arsenal that held sufficient ammunition and supplies to endure a siee lasting up to 2years. The Fortress covers an area of 10,000sq metres in the shape of a trapezoid. The four corners of the Fortress protrude to form bulwarks. In 1622, a cannonball fired from the Fort landed in a Dutch gunpowder carrier during an attempted Dutch invasion, thus demolishing most of their fleet. The Museum of Macau at the Fort features interesting exhibits highlighting Chinese civilisation and history of Macau.

Address: next to St. Paul's Ruins
Directions: side by side St. Paul's ruins.
