Japanese Garden is an excellent destination for all nature lovers and those who appreciate tranquillity. Especially beautiful in spring and summer, it attracts Wroclaw residents and tourists alike.
Japanese Garden was founded in 1913 by count Fritz von Hochberg who was an enthusiast of Far East. Unfortunately, the Garden was destroyed during WWII and the only things that remained were the paths, pond and a small southern part.
Wroclaw inhabitants wanted to reconstruct the Garden after the war but lacked the knowledge and experience to make it 'truly Japanese'. No wonder that Japanese gardeners didn't approve of the efforts and suggested their own solutions. At last a new Japanese Garden was completed with a picturesque bridge, Japanese lanterns and tea pavillion. The official opening took place in May 1997 and merely two months later a disaster struck. Great flood destroyed everything. It seemed that this time Wroclaw would have to give up the idea of the Garden. But the Japanese gardeners from Nagoya decided to help. The result? Come and see...

What an amazing garden...I can't wait to visit. Your hometown seems truly inviting Margo.
