I'm not sure what this Warning is really all about. After seeing how much Thorpeness seems to dislike dogs, perhaps they have put down poisonous toads like the Australian Cane Toads to get rid of a few extra dogs. However as this is a road sign, it's probably aimed at motorists rather than dogs. Perhaps the warning is that hitting a toad will damage your car? Will the squish the toad makes act like acid on your paintwork? Alternatively, perhaps Thorpeness loves toads and hates dogs, and is warning drivers to be careful as they drive through, and not to squash too many toads. However if you are in a car, are you really likely to see a darkly coloured toad on a darkly coloured road?
