We Scots were really excited to have a parliament once more after the Devolution.Bill was passed. Great debates were voiced as to which building could be used for such a historic place. It was decided to break links with history and the past and build a new and totally modern home for the Members of the Scottish Parliament and let Scotland step into the future. A competition to design the building was won by Architect Eric Miralles of Spain. His design was said to feature an upturned boat on the roof, I could not see this myself, I saw just a jumble of mumbo jumbo. It will be interesting to see how this modern icon will weather the storms of time. You can book a tour of the Parliament to see the MSP's in action but call ahead first because it has been closed due to internal structural failures.
