"Basilique du Sacré-Coeur" Basilique du Sacre Coeur de Monmartre Tip by illumina

Sacre Coeur was built after the Franco-Prussian war in 1870, and was designed by Paul Abadie who won the competition over 77 other architects. It was finally completed in 1914, but wasn't consecrated until 1919 after the end of World War I. The famous white structure dominates the city, and offers a wonderful view over Paris.
