  Chicken tonight!

An ideal afternoon walk that should about 2-3 hours. Get the Hausberg cable car and see the ski runs and mountains beyond Garmischerhaus. If Garmischerhaus is open you can have a beer but the path to your left will take you to Bayernhaus in only 20 minutes. A Bavarian chalet with a terrace and beautiful mountain views is worth a visit. The menu is basic but they sell excellent cold plates. Walk down the path opposite Bayernhaus and it winds down and zig zags through the trees to a path by the 1860 Munchen ski hut which should take about 45 minutes Gasthof Partnachalm is visible to your right and again has excellent views from a terrace. Go back along the path and follow signs to Partenkirchen until a path (P3) for Kochelberg appears on the left. It goes towards a larger track and down to Kochelberg. A small lake with a fountain will appear and Kochelberg Alm is on the far side of the lake. It should take about 60 minutes to get there. Kochelberg Alm is a farm but they serve beer in a bar area and the collection of unusual chickens and geese is all around the terrace. Unfortunately they don't do chicken dinners! From there it's about 30 minutes back to the Hausberg cable car bottom station. Several bars and mountain views make this an enjoyable afternoon out.

Directions: via Hausberg cable car and Bayernhas
