Philadelphia has a population slightly over one million and is one of the largest cities in the United States, let alone Pennsylvania. Besides a towering skyline, Philadelphia is one of the most historically important cities in the United States. In the late 18th century, the two Continental Congresses, as well as the Constitutional Convention, all met here. The Articles of Confederation, Decleration of Independence, and the Constitution were all written in this city. At one point, Philadelphia was also the capital of the US. Most of Philly's historic sites, including the Liberty Bell, are packed closely around Independence Hall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many attractions are within walking distance of each other.

Directions: Southeastern Pennsylvania, on the Delaware River
