Far less somber than other memorials, the National World War II Memorial is to celebrate the victory as well as to mark the sacrifice of countless thousands who helped the victory come to pass. The monument itself is a symphony of light and water -- you can't help but feel uplifted when you visit it. Remember, however: this is a memorial. Obey the signs and show appropriate respect during your visit.
