"Fisherman's Bastion" Fisherman's Bastion - Halaszbastya Tip by Ewingjr98

The Fisherman's Bastion is somewhat decieving. Though it stretches a few hundred across much of the original castle perimeter, the modern bastion was just recently built from 1895 to 1902. Behind the bastion in an open square stands Matthias Church, which was actually founded in 1015! The Fisherman's bastion (along with the Citadel) offers some of the finest views of the city, day or night.

The structure is known as Fisherman's Bastion to honor the fishermen who lived in this part of the castle and who defended this stretch of the castle walls.
