In addition to Radiohead; Robert Plant and Franz Ferdinand,
other big name bands including the Scissor Sisters have recently
signed-for up Sziget 2006, 9-16 August. Slightly lesser well known
acts like Goran Bregovic's Wedding and Funeral Band, and the
Afro Celt Sound System have also confirmed.
Sick Of It All, Ministry, Wir Sind Helden, Natacha Atlas, Enzo Avitabile)
Scissor Sisters, dEUS, Exploited, Cathedral, Evergrey, Fear Factory,
Gogol Bordello are also set to play.
Plus Sziget guests can expect New York art-pop, Belgian guitar drive,
Scandinavian prog-metal, gipsy-punk, a Mali kora-player, Romani-folk from
the Balkans, a blend of Irish folk and punk-rock, grinding metal, to
name but a few pastures of the kaleidoscopic musical landscape
of the island event in 2006.
NY art-poppers the Scissor Sisters are set to perform numbers from
perhaps the coolest debut album of 2004.
That sophisticated record swarms with ingenious references to a bag
of various sources with the likes of Bee Gees, Frankie Goes To Hollywood,
Elton John, Queen, David Bowie, Jimmy Sommerville, including even
a brilliant cover of Pink Floyd's classic Comfortably Numb, and resulting in
such smash hits as Laura, Take Your Mama Out or Filthy Gorgeous.
They also provided the most exciting performance at last year's Live8
and so are well worth catching on stage in Budapest when they come."
