The Metropolitan Cathedral?Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady of Valencia, alternatively known as Saint Mary's Cathedral or Valencia Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic parish church in Valencia. It was consecrated in 1238.
The most ancient facade of the Cathedral - the portal of apostles (Puerta ed los Apostoles) comes on Plaza de la Virgen. The medieval custom which is kept up till nowdays is connected with this Gothic portal. Every Thursday at midday the Water tribunal - court of elders gathers in front of the Portal. This tribunal in an antiquity and now discusses the questions, concerning usings irrigation canals.
