The main square of Valencia - Plaza de la Virgen is the picturesque emblem of the Old Town: the Basilica de la Virgen, the back portal of the Cathedral and the monumental Palau de Generalitat.
In I-st century there was a Roman forum. Now the center of the square occupies "a fountain of rivers". The figure of a laying man symbolizes Turia river. Eight women with jugs symbolize eight irrigational channels which come from the river.
