Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, Paris: 20 reviews and 34 photos

One of the world' s great department stores is also an historic monument and worth a short visit even if one doesn't shop. The huge building was purchased in 1905 by the owners of a local men's clothing store and designed by two leading Parisian architects. The Art Nouveau staircase and giant steel and glass dome were constructed in 1912 and have been designated historic landmarks. There are 10 stories surrounding an atrium of the same height reaching to the glass dome ceiling with over 100,000 square feet of retail space. The Christmas windows are a Paris institution. And yes - this flagship store sells everything from Tiffany jewelry to toilet accessories and everything in between.
