Now it was December and we were walking round the Christmas market stalls, but Id hate to think that the amazing food and drink on sale is only offered in winter. Our first night saw us guzzling back china mugs shaped like boots full of Gluhwein, that wonderful German mulled wine that knocks your head off! Hot and steaming together with a plate of mushrooms in garlic sauce, followed by frikadela ( apologies to our German cousins for the spelling)and a delicious creamed spinach...wow! Next mug was Eierpunsch...hot mulled wine with egg liqueuer...even stronger! It certainly kept the cold out and the happiness in. During the next day we tried the huge potato cakes...4 the size of a teaplate, on a piece of kitchen paper straight into your hands, couple them with sizzling fried, battered fish and there it was..German fish and chips!! These 3 days were not just about the markets and decorations...it was a whole culinary experience as well.

Directions: All of the markets stalls.
