Wawo Muda is Indonesia's newest volcano. It erupted in February 2001, scorching all the vegetation nearby and leaving behind five volcanic crater lakes, all different shades of red. The lakes are quite shallow and are evaporating quickly though; when we were there in September 2003 we saw only four, and I've read a later report saying there were only three.

Directions: Near the village of Ngorenale.
