"Indianapolis has nice..." Indianapolis Off The Beaten Path Tip by Ky_Happy_Dad

Indianapolis Off The Beaten Path: 51 reviews and 56 photos

Indianapolis has nice municipal parks. See http://www.indygov.org/indyparks. We liked a review someone had written in the local newspaper about the Holliday park. We spent a few hours exploring its nature trails, its architectural display called 'the ruins' and the good playground equipment for young kids, plus it had a nature center, that was closed on Monday, the day we visited.

One word of caution, the park looked safe and a lot of families were enjoying the facilities, but someone had broken into a vehicle in the parking lot near the playground when we arrived by breaking a window. This was in the early afternoon in bright daylight. I would take care not to take purses or valuables and leave them where someone could break in and get them.

Other parks lookd great for hiking, rollerblading, or boating, or golfing. If you are planning a trip to Indianapolis to see the children's museum and have extra time, check out the IndyParks web page for a park nearby where you are staying.
