After Rio, Salvador is probably among the highlights of every visit to Brazil.

Bahia is Brazil's most African state, and Salvador is often referred to as Africa's capital outside of Africa. African traditions can be seen in food, music and dance.

However, Salvador is still inherently typical Brazilian with a carnaval that is second to none and a musical tradition that will blow your mind away.

The historic CIdade Alta, the upper city is full of colonial buildings, churches, and cobblestoned streets. The main area is around the Pelourinho.

There is music everywhere with blocos playing on the streets and bands performing on the different prazas. One of the best outdoor parties in the world. It is hard to topple the fun you can have in Salvador.
