Am Praban Bar: "Great Pub with a Gaelic Theme" Top 5 Page for this destination Isle of Skye Nightlife Tip by RhineRoll

Isle of Skye Nightlife: 5 reviews and 3 photos

The wood-lined Am Praban bar probably is your best bet for a great night out in South Skye. The bar belongs to the award-winning Isle Ornsay Hotel, owned by Sir Ian Noble, a slightly eccentric and unbelievably rich merchant banker with a big heart for the Gaelic cause. Whereas Mr. Noble does not particularly like people who do NOT speak Gaelic, the friendly staff will of course cater for both the Gaelic and the English-only speakers. Great food from the award winning (and much more expensive) Hotel kitchen. Sometimes live music. The bar is not that big and tends to get quite full.

Sadly, Mr. Noble does not care as much about disabled access as he cares about the Gaelic tongue. Several steps at the entrance. Not sure whether there is a disabled toilet within the premises.

Address: about half a mile off the Broadford-Armadale road
Theme: Eating and Drinking
