Fondest memory: My fondest memory of the Mozart craze in Salzburg is one night in front of the Mozarts Geburtshaus (house where Mozart was born), on Getreidegasse.

As we were walking, we heard a man playing famous Mozart pieces on his piano. We decided to stop and have a drink at the outside terrace of a nearby cafe (Testa Rossa, although it seems to have since moved inside the Geburtshaus). Although I suspect there was an agreement between the piano player and the cafe (the setting was just too perfect), the scene felt more authentic than any other Mozart attraction, perhaps because we were simply enjoying the man's music instead of dogging his footsteps.
