Pat's and Geno's: "Dueling Cheesesteaks" Philadelphia Restaurant Tip by ianerin

Philadelphia Restaurants: 461 reviews and 487 photos

The other two of the best cheesesteak places (other than Jim's Steaks on South St.) are Pat's and Geno's. I include them together because they are located across the street from each other. Mind you, local Philadelphian's all have their favorite cheesesteak places, but with these two (and Jim's) any visitor to Phily can't go wrong.

These two, both located in South Philadelphia near the Italian Market, have engaged in steak wars for years. Pat's is probably slightly more famous, helped by a cameo in 'Rocky'. Both are equally good. One main difference is that Pat's has no indoor seating, which can make a winter visit rather cold.

Address: South 9th Street
