Favorite thing: The Ngo Mon Gate on the picture is the main entrance to the Imperial Enclosure. The forbidden purple city was a smaller version of the great Forbidden City in Beijing, and had the same function. Here lived the emperor and his concubines. The only other people allowed inside were eunuchs as they posed no threat to the emperors royal concubines.
It was almost totally destroyd during the american war, and although some restauration has been done, it is mainly ruins and weed now. Still a must see while in Hue. You get a very peaceful feeling, walking in the grass amongst the ruins and buildings. It's one of thoose placed where you can really feel the history.
