Cortijo Carrillo: "Traditional restaurant set in the hills" Top 5 Page for this destination Antequera Restaurant Tip by Senoritasmile

15 mins outside of Antequera, in a village called Cartaojal, is a lovely, old Cortijo thats renowned for its roasted meats - lamb, suckling pig etc...the Spanish travel up from Malaga city to sunday lunch here. (you do have to pre-order your roasted meats or else take pot luck with what's available)

It's not very big, about 12 tables, although there is a pretty, outdoor patio where tables are laid when sunny.

We were recommended to try the chef's tasters as a starter - (degustacion) which is like a spanish meze, 6 or 7 little dishes to try, which were great - they've been different every time we've visited. The owner is a wine buff too, so kept bringing us little tipples to try at no cost.

A reasonably priced place within typical rural spanish surroundings.

Price Comparison: about average
Directions: Cartaojal is just outside Antequera, off main road to Cordoba. Follow signs for Asador Cartojal once in Village.
