"Did you say SNAKES????" Reichenau Warnings Or Dangers Tip by iris2002
Reichenau Warnings and Dangers: 2 reviews and 3 photos
Yip - believe it or not - the Austrian Alpine wildlife has a lot to offer --- some NOT so tame animals like:
- Snakes (Kreuzotter - VERY poisenous)
So here is a one-on-one with Trapper-Iris on what to do...
SNAKES - now THEY are around in the summer in those mountains.
The most poisenous one is the "KREUZOTTER" Vipera berus... - generally not dangerous BUT don't mess with it --- defined by it's criss-cross shaped scales on it's back.
Length: 50 bis 60 cm
They like to hide underneath stones or ON stones in the morning to heat up... if you see one... make a WIDE detour.... again WEAR GOOD SHOES.
In case of a bite by this snake > immediate hospitalisation is required!
