Ironbark: "Another Italian" Top 5 Page for this destination Manly Restaurant Tip by globetrotter06

Manly Restaurants: 58 reviews and 71 photos

This restaurant looks very good from the outside. And it is probably quite popular as well. At least it was quite full when we were there.

The menu is mainly based on pizza and pasta, but there are other Italian dishes such as risotto. The pizzas are of the gourmet kind, with avocado, chutney, scallops etc. Additionally the wood fire oven brings high expectations.

Having said and seen all this, I got a little disappointed of this restaurant. Firstly, no waiter welcomed us, even though they saw us waiting to get a table. So we made our way through the rather crowded place, but had to wait a while until somebody finally gave us the menu card.

Sitting outside is probably the best option here. It is quiet and more romantic, except from the traffic in front on Pittwater Road. But don't sit at the outer tables if it starts raining and winding...! So, we had to go inside. From a big round table, probably thought for 6 or 7 people, we had a quite good overview of the restaurant. Unfortunately, two families with 4 impatient and loud children were sitting at the table next to us. We were quite happy when they left, and we finally could enjoy the rest of the evening.

The pizzas are very thin. They may have a good menu with special ingredients, but they were not unique in taste. The Chicken Mango pizza lacked taste and the chicken was quite dry. The Ironbark pizza has slices of sausages, salami and pepperoni and is garnished with 5 huge olives. Haven't seen such big olives anywhere else.

Summarizing, the Ironbark Italian Restaurant might be popular, or at least used to be, but we were a bit disappointed. I mean, it is ok, but if you want a really good pizza, there are enough other pizzerias in Manly. Didn't taste the other Italian dishes, but hopefully they meet the expectations.
