Underground exit at Heroes Square stop
by janika

Metro or the Underground is one of the fastest way to get around Budapest without getting stuck in a traffic-jam. There are two main lines crossing the city, The blue line, M2 and the Red line M3. Those are the more modern trains and travel deep underground. To get to the Varosliget and the City Zoo, including Szechenyi Bath, you'd have to take the old underground, M1 - Foldalatti. One stop before the Szechenyi Bath, there is the Heroe's Square stop. That's what you see on the photo I included. The main hub for the metros is Deak Square. That's where you can get off from one line and switch to the other line. The old underground does not use escalators, just walk down the stairs and you see the trains going by. You can purchase the tickets right on the spot from a teller or from an automated ticket vending machine. All three lines are operated by the company, BKV.
