Gunnar's Pizza: "Go Ahead.............Make My Pizza!" Alpine Restaurant Tip by johngayton
Alpine Restaurants: 1 reviews and 3 photos
Whilst Gunnar's advertises itself as a pizza joint, the menu in fact runs to 3 close-packed pages with a range of sandwiches, subs, pasta dishes and excellent chicken wings, the latter coming with a choice of about 6 home-made sauces.
For the full menu see pics 2 and 3.
Parking in front of a sign saying: This space reserved for hunters, trespassers will be shot!", our arrival literally doubled the number of customers on a quiet, snow-showery lunchtime. The restaurant itself is cosy, with a few modern touches and immaculately clean, as are the restrooms, and the service (perhaps by Gunnar himself?) welcoming and helpful.
Favorite Dish: The above mentioned wings, at $6.95 for 10, were succulent and obviously freshly made, smothered in the medium hot sauce, which was just on the right side of "medium hot" with a delicious tang.
Followed by a "Gyro Pitta" for myself - that'll be a Donner Kebab in English - plenty of subtly spiced, not too greasy, lamb with salad and a yoghurt dressing and a BLT Sub for Katherine and washed down by a couple of bottles of "Fat Tire", the total bill was less than $30.
This was exactly what we wanted for a road-trip lunch, good tasty substantial food, pleasant environment and no-rush service, Spot-on!
Though we didn't have the pizza, the table next us did, and that looked pretty good too!
