"Sporgasse" Sporgasse Tip by antistar
Sporgasse, Graz: 7 reviews and 12 photos
The buildings of Sporgasse hug the base of the Schlossberg. Wandering down this narrow lane along the rows of beautiful old houses and shops, it's not surprising to learn that this is the oldest street in the city. In fact it even predates the city itself, existing at least as far back as Roman times, when the street formed part of a road stretching from the Mur to the Roman town of Savaria. The street takes its name from the spur (spor) makers who used to ply their trade their centuries ago.
Today it is a bustling shopping street, with some of the best shops and restaurants in the city.
Directions: The road leading from the central Marktplatz under the Schlossberg.
