On our way from the Mediterrenean coast to Ghadames we had a short break in Nalut for dinner. Just before it was getting dark, we could have a glimpse of the old town and Berber sqar of Nalut from the terrace of the hotel.

Qsar Nalut lies at a rocky and steep hillside and surrounded by the unhabited remains of the village. The old town has stone houses and three old mosques. The qsar is built in 1240 AD. The fortified granary has 400 chambers. The last chambers were used in 1960.

Directions: Nalut is situated at the western end of the Jebel Nafusa, about 200 km south of the coast and 35 km from the Tunisian border in the west.
