"Taking the bus or train to Venice" Venice Transportation Tip by FamilyOfSix

Really consider leaving your car on the "mainland" and getting the bus or train to Venice instead of driving. Driving in Venice is not something you'll get to enjoy much of, as you'll only get as far as the car parks of Piazzale Roma. The car parking is ALWAYS overcrowed, with long lines of traffic, and verw expensive.

Instead, take the easy option and either take a train from Mestre main station or a bus. For the bus, you can buy a ticket from any Tabac shop for EUR1 or EUR1.50 or thereabouts (sometimes depends where you're travelling from).

Don't forget to stamp your train or bus ticket in the small validation machine which is located at each train platform or on the bus. All trains go to the same station in Venice, and all buses go to Piazzale Roma (which means you can smile smuggly at those long queues of cars as you drive past 'em!)
