Cafe Schoenbrunn: "Austrian food in an East German park cafe" Berlin Restaurant Tip by sabsi

We came here on a sunny winter day in March 2006. The scenery and the menu really made me feel like being somewhere in the Alps, definitely not in Berlin. You could see the kids tobogganning down the hills of Friedrichshain. There were people sitting outside on the terrace which made me think they were enjoying a break from skiing. (Later we found out they were just waiting for a table inside ;) We were lucky to get a table even though this place is very popular on a Sunday afternoon. It was great to sit here for hours watching the people, craving for cake and watching the winter scenes outside. Very relaxing!

Favorite Dish: I had Wiener Schnitzel with warm potato salad which was nice but not really the large portion I needed after having been drinking the night before. It was tasty though. Strangely the food they serve in this Eastern style cafe is Austrian. A very exotic mixture really. Prices were higher than average but in my opinion the location deserves it.
