"Varig...the Brazilian falling star" Brazil Transportation Tip by Ipanema_Princess

I was enthusiastic flying to Brazil with Varig, the national airline... but I was how very disappointed. I flied from Paris to Rio with a stop at Sao Paulo, same thing for return.

First of all, do bring a book with you... because that was the first 11 hour flight of my life WITHOUT MOVIES. Nothing just a black screen all the time. The first time, I thought ok maybe it's broken....but same thing for return flight so I guess it's normal. However we had the compagny magazin advising of the movie program. How strange.

Then the food was of course disguting, but that 's not a big surprise on a plane. The worst is that the breakfast was neeeever coming, they served it when it was almost lunch time. I was completly starving. So rule number two : do bring some snacks !

None of the flights were on time. When I arrived, my flight came earlier that scheduled, so of course there was no one waiting for me at the airport. And on the contrary for return, we had 3 hours of delay without explanations.

And on the top of it, the staff was not even friendly. It seems that they manage to find the only non friendly and non smiley Brazilan people on earth !!!

I know that Varig is having some big financial difficulties right now, but it's not going to get better if the service continue being so poor. Fly on TAM, from what I heard it's much better !
