Chemnitz's Schlosskirche is the city's only Gothic church, to be found in the oldest part of Chemnitz, Schlossberg. It was built in the 12th century, shortly after the city of Chemnitz was first mentioned, and contains several interesting works of art, such as the 15th- century altar. Located on top of a hill, you have a very nice view over the Schlossteich and other parts of Chemnitz from there. You might be surprised about the roof which looks much newer than the rest of the church - the original roof was destroyed during the heavy bombardment in World War II.

Directions: Schlosskirche is located on top of the hill behind Schlossteich
