"Maslenitsa" Moscow Local Custom Tip by yumyum

Moscow Local Customs: 189 reviews and 251 photos

This local custom is from pagan times and it now celebrated the week before Lent for one week. It's to say winter good-bye and welcome spring. During Maslenitsa everyone eats blinis (russian pancakes). You are allowed to really stuff yourself!

Here in Moscow there were activities beside Red Square. And the big puppet called Maslenitsa was standing at the bottom of Tverskaya road.
