After spending the morning antiquing, my husband and I met our daughter-in-law for lunch in an area of Santiago amusingly referred to as "Sanhattan" because it reminds some travelers of New York City and is Chile's business district.
Avenue Isidora Goyenechea runs through this district which contains many familiar sounding restaurants such as Ruby Tuesday, Hooters and Bennigan's. A nice selection of local restaurants with indoor/outdoor dining line the avenue, as well.
A small park known as Plaza Peru gives those who work in this area a shady place in which to take a break, eat a snack or socialize. There are lovely trees and a shelter from the hot sun under which benches can be found. It's an ideal place to rest your feet after a long morning of shopping! Need I say...it's also a superb spot to people watch?
